The research relationship with the company HUNOSA, owner of the majority of the coal mines in Spain, started in 2010 through its Research and New Developments Department, and continues satisfactorily nowadays. Research is carried out in two main lines:
- Geothermics of closed underground mines: numerical modeling of coupled flow and heat transport inside the coal fields. It includes from the conceptualizacion of the mining environment to the informed suggestion of possible improvements in the management process.
- Geophysics: the active point is to analyze the contribution of the geophysical techniques in projects related with the coal mines, both inside it underground and applied to the outside infrastructure.
